Despite all the good work they’ve done, Arsenal will finish the 2024/25 season with no trophies to show for their effort, and it’s widely believed that the main reason for their failure is the obvious lack of a reliable striker. Aiming to rectify the problem, the Gunners are looking to fill the void this summer, and according to the Independent, they’ve narrowed their search down to two names – RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, and Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres.
Sesko, at the age of 21, has shown great potential and more work has apparently been done on that front. However, at Arsenal they are aware that they need a fully developed striker ready to deliver goals straight away, and since the arrival of Andrea Berta as their sporting director, the focus has shifted to an extent towards 26-year-old Gyokeres.
Neither of these players is expected to cost over £75million, which is well within Arsenal’s budget for this particular project. Ideally, they’d prefer Alexander Isak, but they’re fully aware that agreeing a transfer fee with Newcastle, a direct Premier League rival, would be practically impossible.
